Oppie fake news site, TOC, apologizes on bended knees to the good PM Lee for telling lies about him.
TOC carried the story based on what they were told. The Publisher according TOC expected to receive something o Monday.
Sales of the book seemed pretty steady, some 4 hours ago I last saw 200 copies, over 70 copies snapped up
Did you know, this book was written & illustrated by 3 young chio bu ? Not kidding, go CSI out their photos for yourself.
It is raining on Tuesday, what did they receive? nomination for the Man Booker Prize?
it’s a cheap stunt by the publisher for publicity to sell more books. toc being the gullible moron that it is took it hook, line and sinker. it’s still in denial that it is being used for a free fuck.
TOC should have known better than acting like they are the angels in the matter.
That being said however, the writing on the wall is pretty clear cut to me. The CEO Edmund Wee claimed that Oxley's launch was delayed to accommodate Peh Shing Huei's book. What kind of reason or excuse is that?
Furthermore, the Arts House and Epigram are tripping over each other in an effort to blame each other, and now Epigram has decided to stonewall until "the matter is resolved", whatever that means. The phrase "quietly letting it slide" comes to mind.
I won't be surprised if Edmund withdraws the book.
The question is, if they do issue them a letter from the lawyers, sue for defamation? or innuendo? for there is no mention of name & surely all published works, have the disclaimer that roughly says..." any semblance to person or persons living...." etc.
If these people are afraid that people will look over their shoulders & shadow them, stop publishing such satire...or have the Balls to face the juggernaut head on...real cheap publicity!.
won't be surprised if the first batch of 2000 doesn't sell well and the sequel is shelved indefinitely.
These morons can't even handle their delivery orders and official launch of their book. Still dare to trust them to debate about national issues involving PAP?
The word "oxley" is a dead give away plus a whole of similarity. At least one of the Authors have given an interview prior to this issue about the were approached by the publisher to do a story around Oxley and the Lees. You can't run from it. Disclaimers does not do anything in such cases. It was meant to be satire and that is what satire is about. The PAP has no tolerance for this.
call it ox lee lah
Monday restocked 200 copies, sales rate slowing to a trickle... from selling 70 copies in first 4 hours till now still having about 10 books left... I expected the sales to be completed within 24 hrs initially. Teehee...
