Publisher of 'Oxley Castle' book: No letter of any kind received from PMO
Reena Devi,Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore 1 hour 41 minutes ag
The publisher of a fairy tale book inspired by the 38 Oxley Road saga said on Monday (13 November) that it “has not received any letter of any kind from PMO (the Prime Minister’s Office) or any individuals”.
The statement comes after Epigram announced earlier Monday that the book launch originally slated for this Saturday has been postponed till further notice.
“While the original intent was to do a dual book launch, we have decided that it will be better to focus on doing a one-book launch which is Peh Shing Huei’s ‘Dream Island: The Mad Mad World of Philip Yeo’ which has a charity component,” said Edmund Wee, CEO and publisher of Epigram Books. The launch of Peh’s book will be held at The Arts House.
“The Phantom of Oxley Castle” centres around a grand castle with 38 rooms on a tropical island and its colourful occupants including two young princes, a princess and their pesky butler named OB Markus.
Epigram stated that it initiated the decision to cancel the book launch, saying that there had been a misunderstanding regarding what Wee had shared with The Straits Times. According to the ST report, Epigram and the venue operator The Arts House each said the other was responsible for the cancellation.
The publisher said it will still take orders for the book but delivery will be confirmed at a later date. A limited stock of pre-orders are available online now, it added.
only 200 copies available, mai tu liao!
that's the other strange part.. why would anyone risk the wrath of Prince Hector over 200 copies? The risk-reward just doesn't make sense
Pinky is unlikely to sue over a children picture book. The authors printed about 2000 copy if I'm not mistaken? so... slowly release the books batch by batch?
most likely a deal has already been struck: "stop selling the books and we will let this slide quietly". So most likely the 2000 copies will fetch a premium in the collectors' market. But the publishers won't make any of that.
In sinkieland it makes zero sense to go head to head against the gahmen if you're a businessman.
With a sequel in the plans, it's unlikely that these authors would want to incur the wrath of Pinky, besides, HC not featured in the first book... or am I wrong? can't wait for the book to be delivered
Bro who is butler OB Markus supposed to represent? I can't figure out also.
just a personification of the censorship laws here
I think it is the metaphorical butler for OB Markers to show how the royally treat these markers.
I think there's serious money to be made nowadays for making fun of Pinky Lee and his merry men
Mr Brown made a living out of doing that until he got co-opted
Then last week i heard the lunchtime busker singing shit about the Pap ministers. The small crowd looked amused.
Very soon some one will made a youtube sitcom set in the Yishtana
Didn't gct help look after house for the kid to take over. He is the first one to used ob marker.
You do have a point.
