“I can assure you that 60 million evangelicals are watching this promise closely because if President Trump moves the embassy into Jerusalem, he will historically step into immortality,” Pastor John Hagee, leader of Christians United for Israel told Fox News “He will be remembered for thousands of years for his act of courage to treat Israel like we already treat other nations.”

Several advisers said he did not seem to have a full understanding of the issue and instead appeared to be focused on “seeming pro-Israel,” in the words of one, and “making a deal,” in the words of another.

“The decision wasn’t driven by the peace process,” one senior official said. “The decision was driven by his campaign promise.”

There are large numbers of believers, in fact, who see Trump's announcement - and, in fact, Trump himself - as hastening the long-awaited coming of the Messiah.

But just whose Messiah is Trump hastening? Is it the fundamentalist Israeli vision of a return to a Jewish kingdom and priesthood reminiscent of the Old Testament? Or is it the Evangelical belief in the return of Jesus Christ and the conversion of all the Jews to born-again Christian doctrine and faith?

And, considering the unfathomable idiosyncrasies of the president's personality, isn't there every chance that we are now watching the evolution of a particularly Trumpian version of Jerusalem Syndrome - that disorder in which a recent visitor to the Holy City begins to take on the personality of a biblical figure?

    The Messiah, for example.

It just could be a logical next step on Trump's path of auto-hagiography. Having already crowned himself President of all Presidents, is it too much of a stretch to imagine Donald Trump, basking as he is in the glow of an adoring Israeli press and the showers of verbal rose petals thrown his way by Benjamin Netanyahu, beginning to see himself as the King of Kings?

Until Palestinians have their own country nothing else will do. Palestinians are made up of Muslims, Christians and other denominations related to the two. It need not be one of religion. Its about giving people their land back. Hanan Ashrawi is an Anglican Christian whose father a doctor, was one of the founding member of the PLO. George Habash is a Eastern Orthodox Christian who led the PFLP shortly after graduating from medical school. He masterminded the hijacking of planes to fight for his cause in the 70s.

The Palestinians already have their own country. It's called 'Jordan'. They just want another.

The Palestinians are predominantly muslim, and any such country will be an islamic one.

Secular muslim dominated countries always end up as theocracies with institutionalized discrimination against non-muslims. Over the decades, the proportion of non-muslims will dwindle, either due to conversion by pressure or leaving. Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia are good examples. Lebanon is next. Lebanon used to be Christian majority country. Now, it is dominated by a Shia Hezbollah.

The Palestinians have made it clear repeatedly that they want everything. They want a one-state solution that is muslim palestinian dominated. Any sharing of land or Jerusalem is just a stepping stone to achieving this objective. Hamas stepped up their attacks after Israel gave away Gaza, so giving away land for peace brought only more violence.

I've lost all respect for the palestinians. They lie often, exaggerate, and they glorify murderers who kill Jewish civilians and little kids. The palestinians are nothing but pigs.

I am going to leave the Jordan comment aside and let you google the 1948 war.

There is growing trend amongst the Palestinians to move towards a one state solution where they are recognised as equals. IsraelI Arabs (bedouins) also prefer it. Most people want to be treated equally and the right to live in the land of their ancestors.

I challenge you to provide concrete evidence that muslims want to live as equals with others.

In every single muslim majority country, there is institutionalized discrimination against non-muslims, including in moderate islam places like malaysia and indonesia.

One reason for no final peace is because the palestinian muslims demand for their right to flood into israel and form the majority, thereby ensuring Israel becomes islamic.

The only time I hear about muslims wanting equal rights is when they are the minority. Is that where your source of muslims wanting equal rights come from? Lol.

the u.n. in 1947 made the fatal mistake of splitting jerusalem between the palestinians and jewish precursor of israel under the stupid (and never workable) concept of corpus separatum. u.n. should not have existed in the first place. it’s such a bloated, bureaucratic, corrupt, and useless organization that creates more root cause problems than solving them. knowing how arab unrest in jerusalem in particular exacerbated during british rule after the defeat of the ottomans in ww1, both the british masters (post-ww1 to ww2) and u.n. later after ww2 should have expelled the arabs from the city and deported them to neighboring arab states, and made those arab states accept them as citizens. refugees who flowed to neighboring arab states are still stateless for a reason (except jordan). jordan is the only arab state to naturalize palestinian refugees. think about that for a moment.

the arab and muslim palestinians’ final objective is clear to everyone - destruction of israel and extermination of jews, christians, zoroastrians, anyone of different faiths other than islam - except sympathizers and morons who still harp and hope for coexistence of various faiths in jerusalem. that worked in the ottoman empire when the turks were in control. but not either a sunni or shiite-dominated palestinian gov in power. the west bank and gaza provide the proof that a palestinian “gov” cannot manage its people, what more the presence of jews and other believers. even lebanon is wary of muslim palestinians, especially the sunni flavor, and has never accepted them as naturalized citizens. i’m hoping for the day when israel with her military might would do everyone, including neighboring arab states, a favor by exterminating the palestinian vermins that nobody wants, once and for all.

The last FOUR presidents all promised to move the American embassy to its rightful location.

Only ONE President has delivered on his promise. The rest don't have the guts or the gumption to make the hard decisions.

Trump is the best! Long live Trump!
